How come the dumb comments are always listed by Anonymous? Probably because they are a product of the US public educational system where they never learned to read.

If you are commenting about my posting, I never said that Obama was RESPONSIBLE for Major Hasan and his actions. I said that Major Hasan was now OBAMA's PROBLEM.

President Obama has been soft on military, apologetic to Islam and has thrown Americans under the bus all over the world by bowing and scraping to all sorts of dignitaries and giving speeches derogatory to America. Even the French have commented on his appearance of weakness......so.....if and when a military courts martial reaches a sentence of death for Major Hasan, President Obama will have to make a very tough decision to either concur with the death penalty for an Islamic terrorist or, once again, show weakness by standing against the military penalty and showing softness for the Islamic terrorists.

We have read with concern the many signs Major Hasan provided which would indicate an unstable and potentially dangerous frame of mind. Our concern is that those who actually saw and heard the signs and those to whom the signs were reported did not act upon them. From Hasan’s contact with a radical imam, to the initials SoA (Son of Allah) on his business card, to his comment that he was a Muslim first and a soldier second – there is no doubt the signs that he was potentially dangerous were there for all to see.

Furthermore, he was under surveillance by two Terrorist Task Forces, one with Department of Defense oversight and the other with FBI oversight. So why wasn’t he stopped?

The answer is quite simple – The military does not have an objective and culturally neutral system that collects information and evaluates it to determine the degree (or level) of aggression an individual is displaying, nor has it people who have a clear responsibility to observe and report this information within an objective system nor a team who is responsible to evaluate it and respond. The military does not have the AMIS solution and it desperately needs it! After the national suicide — I mean, the election of 2008 — I wrote an article about how businesses will have to be much smarter now. Don't react by raising prices to cover your raised taxes, but focus on customer service. Don't be cheap and lose business. That sort of thing.

I know someone who is filing for bankruptcy. Lots of phone calls and letters. Places like Capital One simply dropped the account into collections. Others, like Discover, were surprisingly intelligent by offering to "work with you". They know that (a) someone that has had an account for years has probably paid off the principal and is only paying off interest now, and (b) they'd better do something because with bankruptcy, they'll probably not get a cent.

Schnuck is being a Schnook. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes out of business and then blames B. Hussein Obama for his own mismanagement. Mr. Goodcents may very well be on the ball enough to prosper in this economy.

People choose to buy ordinary light bulbs around 9 times out of 10.
Banning what people want gives the supposed savings - no point in banning an impopular product!

If new LED lights or improved CFLs are good,
people will buy them - no need to ban ordinary light bulbs (little point).
If they are not good, people will not buy them - no need to ban ordinary light bulbs (no point).
The arrival of the transistor didn't mean that more energy using radio valves had to be banned... they were bought less anyway.

All lights have their advantages.
The ordinary simple light bulb has for many people a pleasing appearance, it responds quickly with bright broad spectrum light, is easy to use with dimmers and other equipment, can come in small sizes, and has safely been used for over 100 years.

100 W+ equivalent brightness is a particular issue - difficult and expensive with both fluorescents and LEDS - yet such incandescent bulbs are first in line for banning in the EU!

There are also problems in achieving small size bright bulbs with fluorescents and LEDS, while halogens, related to ordinary bulbs are only slightly more efficient, and will gradually be phased out too given the proposed efficiency limits.

In any case:
Since when do we need to save on electricity?
There is no energy shortage, there are plenty of local energy sources, Middle East oil is not used for electricity generation.
Consumers pay for any power stations, just as they do for factories and shops generally.
Certainly it is good to let people know how they can save energy and money - but why force them to do it?

Emissions?
OK: Does your light bulb give out any gases?
Power stations might not either:

Why should emission-free households be denied the use of lighting they obviously want to use?
Low emission households will increase everywhere, since emissions will be reduced anyway through the planned use of coal/gas processing technology or energy substitution.

Also, the savings amounts can be questioned:
